An ongoing experiment exploring what it's actually like in others people's shoes: the shoes of a friend, a child, a parent, an ex-partner, an activist, a stranger, a neighbor, an artist, a computer scientist, a senior, a carpenter, a deceased person, a crush, shoes found by the side of the road, the shoes of a farmer...and perhaps your own.
A day in your shoes.
I explained this project to my grandmother, who my brother and sister and I call Mama Jean. I asked her if she could send me some shoes: "I want to see what it's like in other people's shoes," I said. Mama Jean replied, "I can tell you what it will be like--painful! Can't you just pretend?" We both laughed.
She agreed to send me some shoes.
And you can, too, if you'd like.
